The unique and peerless beauty of our four star in Florence center is partly due to the historical context furnished by its incredible location, always seen as a museum which has found its right connotation following the last renovations. The building, a four star hotel, is housed between the Byzantine walls of the Torre della Pagliazza, built between 541 and 544 A.D., actually the most ancient in the centre. The archaeological excavations have revealed many Roman finds, one of the most precious of them is also considered to be a true jewel: the Calidarium of the Roman termal baths, a hammam once used as a sauna.
After these discoveries a museum was decided to be erected inside the Brunellleschi where the findings can be admired enriched by an extensive photographic documentation of every single step of the works. Visitors will be able to admire remarkable ceramic objects, Roman fragments and various examples from Medieval times. The Renaissance Montelupo collection is truly distinctive, composed of Compendiario-like plates with rural-style decorations, animal figures or polychromatic figurals, finished with a group of harlequins from the first half of the 17th century.
