Palazzo Pitti and its museums
Pitti Palace was once the palace of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, formerly inhabited by the Medici, Lorraine and Savoy dynasties. It is located in Piazza Pitti, in the Oltrarno, about a ten-minute walk from the hotel.
The Palace hosts several museums of different natures: an art gallery (the Palatine Gallery, with masterpieces by Raphael, Titian, etc...) arranged according to the criterion of eighteenth-century paintings, monumental apartments, the Modern Art Gallery (with the works of Macchiaioli) and other specialised museums: the Museo degli Argenti, dedicated to applied art, the Costume Gallery, the most important museum dedicated to Italian fashion, the Porcelain Museum and the Carriage Museum.
The Boboli Gardens, one of the best examples of Italian gardens, are located behind the palace.
There are different types of entrance tickets to the museums. A complete entrance ticket is also available. To check the cost, the opening days and times of the individual museums click here.
