To monitor vehicle traffic in central Florence, surveillance cameras are installed at the entrance of the limited traffic zone (ZTL). The Brunelleschi Hotel is located inside the ZTL and the pedestrian zone.
The boundaries of the ZTL are marked by road signs and have access doors monitored by cameras that detect all the license plates of passing vehicles.
Tourists traveling with a rental or owned vehicle are allowed access in all areas of the ZTL to reach the Hotels and load and unload luggage, within a maximum time of 3 hours.
Customers entering the ZTL, as soon as they reach the Hotel, are required to communicate the license plate number to the reception staff.
The Hotel or Garage staff will then whitelist the license plate number.
Each time you use the car to leave and re-enter the ZTL, you will have to re-register the license plate. This also means when leaving the hotel if there is a need to return by car to the hotel or to the ZTL.
Please note that access to the pedestrian zone is also allowed to reach the Hotel. This zone is not monitored by cameras, but is subject to checks by the police. If you are pulled over, a verbal declaration will suffice.
Also note that there are doors, indicated by specific signs and monitored by cameras, reserved exclusively for public transport vehicles and emergency vehicles. Passage in these lanes is forbidden 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Disabled permit holders who need to enter the restricted traffic zone (ZTL) with their vehicle should call the toll-free number 800 339891.
