Great expectations for the Biennale dell’Antiquariato in Florence 2022, scheduled from 24 September to 2 October at Palazzo Corsini.
The BIAF is one of the most important events dedicated to Italian art on the international scene which has reached its 32nd edition. The aim is to exceed the number of 28,000 visitors recorded in the XXXI edition.
An event held, for the first time, in 1953 and wanted by Luigi Bellini in order to bring together the best of Italian antiques in Florence. Six years later, Mario and Giuseppe Bellini, with the help of the Antiques Association of Italy, set up one of the most important events in the world, involving Italian and foreign operators.
Today, the Biennale brings to Florence a selection of the best Italian and international antique dealers and with them an important and varied choice of works. Peculiarities that have made the Florence Biennale of Antiques the most important trade show in the world for ancient Italian art. An event that is completed by a rich and important sequence of official appointments, such as: the Gala Dinner, the most awaited moment because it offers guests, from many EU and US countries, the opportunity to visit the exhibition as an absolute preview and then experience an exclusive and refined dinner; the small but significant temporary exhibitions held inside Palazzo Corsini, displays of precious and evocative objects from public and private collections.
The BIAF is at Palazzo Corsini, an elegant late Baroque style residence that also belonged to the Medici family.
The building was built over 50 years of uninterrupted works under the direction of Bartolomeo and his son Filippo. Of great value are the decorations made by the painters Anton Domenico Gabbiani Alessandro Gherardini and Pier Dandini.
