Andrea Bocelli’s concert in Lajatico also returns in 2021 in the magical setting of the Teatro del Silenzio, a natural amphitheatre created in the splendid setting of the Lajatico hills, a small landscape jewel in the Volterra hinterland, in the province of Pisa. The concert-event of 22 and 24 July 2021 is entitled “The Mystery of Beauty”, which through song and music will enhance the concepts of nature and beauty. For the occasion, the Brunelleschi Hotel proposes you an offer dedicated to Andrea Bocelli’s 2021 concert in Lajatico, which includes round-trip transfers from Florence to Lajatico.

The history of the Teatro del Silenzio

The idea of this natural theatre was born in 2005 from the creativity and love of the Scientific Committee members of the project such as the architect Alberto Bartalini, a native of Lajatico and active rediscoverer of sociocultural traditions and places, the photographer Mario Mulas, the then Mayor of Lajatico Fabio Tedeschi but, above all, by the Honorary President, the tenor Andrea Bocelli.

Teacher Andrea Bocelli himself was born in Lajatico on 22 September 1958.

The Teatro del Silenzio was created in a place that remains intact in silence for 363 days a year and that for just two days comes alive with a different life. A silent project that opens up to welcome the great national and international artists of song, music and dance who will perform together with Andrea Bocelli on a natural stage that has no equal in the world.

The one between the Teatro del Silenzio and classical music represents a perfect union between the beauty of the landscape and the refinement of the music.

The Theatre is a natural Amphitheatre located on a hill at one kilometre and a half from the town of Lajatico. It consists of a pond used in the past by farmers to water animals and in the centre of which is a monumental sculpture by a contemporary artist, different for each year, which is chosen based on the theme of the edition.

The whole is surrounded by a floor of Tuscan travertine blocks that recalls an ancient place of worship or a Neolithic megalith.

The amphitheatre offers a panorama with a 180-degree view of the hills. The Teatro del silenzio represents an eco-architecture project that has not disrupted the natural environment and rather has placed it at the centre of attention.

Only in the two days of the concert is all the technical material needed for the show brought to the amphitheatre but at the end of the event, in the same night and respecting the environment, everything is removed and the Teatro del Silenzio returns to being a place silent and meditative.

The first show at the Teatro del Silenzio was staged on 27 July 2006 with a concert by Maestro Bocelli “Dedicated to the Great Absentee” with the work of Maestro Igor Mitoraj at the centre. The great absentee to whom the concert was dedicated is the father of Andrea Bocelli.

Over the years, on an annual basis, the Teatro del Silenzio has seen numerous artists of opera music, international pop and performing arts perform in general: Laura Pausini, Chris Botti, Kenny G., Heather Headley, Nicola Piovani, Noa, Roberto Bolle, Placido Domingo, Katherine Jenkins, Jose Carreras, Toquinho, Eugene Kohn, Andrea Griminelli, the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Renato Zero, Renato Serio, Eleonora Abbagnato, Nek, Elisa, Gianna Nannini, Riccardo Cocciante, Pino Daniele, Giorgio Albertazzi, Fabio Fazio, Lindsay Kemp, Zubin Mehta, the Orchestra of the Carlo Felice Theater of Genoa, Luca Tommassini, 2Cellos, Samuel Peron, Samanta Togni, Carla Fracci, Steven Mercurio, Stefano Accorsi, Serena Rossi, Mika, Matteo Bocelli and Dua Lipa.
