Ongoing until November 3, 2013 the exhibition Diaphanous passions. Baroque ivories from the courts of Europe at the Museo degli Argenti at the Pitti Palace in Florence. The exhibition presents a collection of 150 objects that are part of the museum but also elements from European museums and private collections. An invitation of the Hotel Brunelleschi, boutique hotel in the heart of the historical center, to an unmissable event for lovers of art.

The exhibition is broken down into several sections tracing the art of ivory carving from the 15th century, when it caught Lorenzo the Magnificent’s eye, through the High Renaissance and later, right up to the explosion of the Baroque with works by the Flemish artists, and by Leonhard Kern, François Duquesnoy and Georg Petel, who practiced their art in Italy for many years and who took the technique of ivory carving to the highest level. There is also a section devoted to ivory production in Goa, a region of western India, and the section entitled Virtuous Geometry with the works of the German turners that created intricate ivory figures that combined symbology and numerology, geometry and philosophy.
