Feast of Florence’s patron saint, religious celebrations and fireworks.

A highly anticipated day is that of the Feast of San Giovanni in Florence, which is celebrated every year on June 24 in the city’s historic center.

The program of celebrations for the feast of the city’s patron saint is as follows:

– about 8:30 a.m.: a small city procession follows the city’s banner to the Baptistery of San Giovanni, where the Candles and Crosses are brought as offerings;
– 10:30 a.m.: Mass in Florence Cathedral in the presence of the main secular and religious authorities. In the Duomo (or Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore) will be joined by the voices of the Musical Chapel and Pueri Cantores of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Children’s Choir of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conducted by M° Lorenzo Fratini, in collaboration with the sacred music festival O Flos Colende;
– 4 p.m.: The Historical Procession of the City of Florence departs from Piazza Santa Maria Novella through the main streets of the historic center – Via de’ Banchi, Via Tornabuoni, Via Strozzi, Piazza della Repubblica, Via Calzaiuoli, Piazza della Signoria, Via della Ninna, Via de’ Neri – to arrive in Piazza Santa Croce before the start of the Historical Football;
– 10 p.m.: Fochi di San Giovanni, which kick off from Piazzale Michelangelo and can be seen throughout the city and beyond.

We look forward to seeing you at Hotel Brunelleschi for a magical night or even just a dinner while waiting for the fireworks of the Feast of St. John.

Hotel Brunelleschi is located a short walk from the Lungarno, from where there is a privileged view of the fireworks in honor of the feast of the city’s patron saint.
While waiting for the fireworks display, we suggest a delicious typical Tuscan dinner at Osteria della Pagliazza, in an exclusive location such as Piazza Santa Elisabetta and the Byzantine Tower of Pagliazza or a delicious gourmet dinner at Ristorante Santa Elisabetta (also in the Tower of Pagliazza but on the second floor).

If, on the other hand, you wish to stay for the night and enjoy all the magic of this special summer night, discover and choose one of our rooms and suites, many with views of Brunelleschi’s Dome and Giotto’s Bell Tower. Please note that you can make online reservations directly from our official website at the best rate guaranteed on the internet, quickly and securely and with wi-fi internet connection included in the price for the duration of your stay.
