  • Annual astronomical observation of the gnomon (astronomical instrument used to measure the position of the Sun) in the Cathedral of Florence: Between 12.30 and 13.30 on days 11-14-18 (in English) -21 June, during the summer solstice, in the chapel of the Cross, to the left of the High Altar it is possible to observe the passage of the Sun through the Gnomon of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The Gnomon, an astronomical instrument used to measure the position of the Sun, was conceived in 1475 by Paolo Dal Pozzo Toscanelli and restored by the Jesuit Father Leonardo Ximenes in 1754.
